We’re on the hunt for a dedicated Estimator to play a pivotal role in the heart of our operations. This is not just a job; it’s an opportunity to grow and make a tangible impact every day.
Location: This full-time position is based in-person at our plant located at 185 Claireport Crescent, Etobicoke, Ontario
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Prepare work estimates by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
- Collaborate with field technicians and sales personnel to provide estimates for aluminum, glass, and hardware applications.
- Handle a diverse range of projects, from repairing broken windows to installing automatic door openers, with projects under $100K being computed for the bid process.
- Identify labor, material, and time requirements through thorough analysis of proposals and documents.
- Compute costs by analyzing labor, material, and time requirements.
- Attend pre-tender meetings to ensure accurate estimates.
- Prepare takeoffs/estimates for assigned jobs.
- Stay informed of new materials and techniques.
- Act as a key contributor in business development activities.
- Develop and execute project strategies to meet performance, schedule, and profitability targets.
- Assist in the bid process by communicating strategies to the sales and operations team.
- Provide preconstruction services including preliminary budgets and value engineering exercises.
- Lead internal operations project start-up meetings and administrative set-up.
- Address and resolve issues as they occur.
- Prepare comparison analysis to explain variances.
- Participate in estimate review meetings with stakeholders.
- Take a lead or support role in Lump Sum bid process.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or similar field preferred.
- Previous experience in estimating for aluminum, glass, or hardware applications is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and estimating software.
- Experience with project management software is a plus.
